Amazing painting! I think you captured well the reality of what it must have been like for him. He was a hermit and a recluse... this is almost like a snapshot, had they been around at the time, by a stranger... how they might have viewed this strange man people spoke about. He must have been a weirdo to many. We see his zeal and his ascetic lifestyle in this portrait.
